What does a product video cost in 2026?
A studio-made one-minute explainer was quoted at a median of $5,400 in the largest open price survey, agencies on Clutch mostly bill $100 to $149 an hour, freelancers on Upwork typically $6 to $25 an hour, and DIY trades cash for time.

The most transparent agency price data comes from a mystery-shopping exercise. Wyzowl contacted 242 explainer video studios in late 2022, asked each for a price on a 60 second animated explainer matched to two example videos, and received 116 quotes. The lowest was $600 and the highest $250,000, the median was $5,400, and the average with the top and bottom 5% removed was $8,457 1. The data is a few years old and Wyzowl is itself a studio, but nobody has published a larger like-for-like comparison since.
Clutch, which compiles pricing from verified client reviews of agencies, gives a current view. As of its September 2026 update, most video production agencies charge $100 to $149 an hour and projects typically cost less than $10,000, although the average project comes to $42,280.92 because a few large engagements pull the mean up 2. The typical project on Clutch runs five months 2, which reflects bigger briefs than a single short product clip but says something about how agencies schedule work.
Freelancers are cheaper per hour and far more variable. Upwork reports that video editors on its marketplace typically cost $6 to $25 an hour, with median rates of $10, $40 and $100 an hour across its three price tiers 3, and that animators cost $20 to $38 an hour at the median 4. The total depends on how many hours a brief takes, which Upwork notes grows with raw footage, motion graphics, turnaround and rounds of revision 3.
Doing it yourself costs little in software. Canva Pro, for example, was listed at €110 a year for one person when we checked from Austria 5. The real cost is time and skill. In Wyzowl's 2026 survey, 24% of marketers who don't use video said it was too expensive and 19% said they lacked the time 6, and Constant Contact found that 42% of small businesses have less than one hour a day to spend on marketing at all 7. That squeeze explains why 63% of video marketers in Wyzowl's survey have now used AI video tools and 59% make their videos in house 6.
Teasr sits at the tools end of this range: €19.50 for a 15 second video up to €49.50 for 60 seconds, made from your existing website in about ten minutes. It will not replace a studio for a custom brand film, but for a short product video it costs roughly a hundredth of the median agency quote above and takes minutes of your time rather than days.
