How to make a demo video for a SaaS product
A good SaaS demo video answers one question fast: what does this do for me? Here's how to make one that people watch to the end.
1. Decide what the video is for
A demo on your landing page, a launch post and a sales follow-up are different jobs. Pick one. For a landing page or a launch, you're explaining the product in seconds. For a sales follow-up, you can go deeper.
2. Keep it short
Wistia's analysis of more than 13 million videos found videos under a minute average a 52% engagement rate, with product videos around 50% (Wistia). People also prefer it: in Wyzowl's 2026 survey, 63% said they'd most like to learn about a product from a short video (Wyzowl). For a landing page or launch, aim for 30 to 60 seconds.
3. Use a simple structure
- The outcome, first. Show what the product makes possible in the opening seconds.
- How it works. Two or three steps, each with one real screen.
- What makes it different. One thing, not a feature list.
- The name and the address. End where people can act.
4. Make it readable without sound
Put the key words on screen. Many people watch with sound off, and on-screen words also make the video easier to follow for everyone.
5. Choose how to make it
| Approach | Good for |
|---|---|
| A polished screen recording | A click-by-click walkthrough of the app. Tools like Screen Studio add zooms, motion and framing to recordings (Screen Studio). |
| A motion graphics video | A short, branded overview for a landing page, a launch or social posts. |
| Both | A short motion video up top, and a walkthrough further down the page or in onboarding. |
For the motion graphics version, Teasr makes one from your website in about 10 minutes: it picks up your brand, screens and copy, and adds music made for the video. It starts at €39.
