How long should a product video be?
Short. For most product videos, under a minute is the sweet spot, and the data backs it up.
What the data says
Wistia analyzed more than 13 million videos on its platform for its 2026 State of Video report. Videos under a minute averaged a 52% engagement rate, meaning viewers typically watch about half of the video, and product videos in that range held around 50% (Wistia). Engagement naturally declines after the five-minute mark, so longer formats are best kept for tutorials, webinars and training.
Viewers say the same thing. In Wyzowl's 2026 survey, 63% of people said they'd most like to learn about a product or service from a short video (Wyzowl).
A length for each place
| Where it plays | Length | Why |
|---|---|---|
| X, LinkedIn, Threads, Instagram | 15 to 30 seconds | People are scrolling. Show the product in the first seconds and end before they leave. |
| Launch posts and Product Hunt | 30 to 60 seconds | Enough to show what it does and why it's different, short enough to finish. |
| Landing page hero | 30 to 60 seconds | Visitors chose to be there, so you can show a little more. |
| Sales decks and demos | 45 to 60 seconds | A quick overview before the live conversation. |
Make one video, then cut it
You rarely need one length. A common approach is a 30-second version for the launch and a 15-second cut for social. With Teasr, once you have a video you can ask for another length from the same design, so the versions look like a set (€39 for a 15-second video).
