How much does a product video cost in 2026?
The honest answer is anywhere from nothing to six figures. What you pay depends far less on the length of the video than on who makes it, and how many people are involved.
What surveys say brands actually pay
HubSpot, drawing on a Wyzowl survey of more than 240 brands, reports that the average cost of an animated explainer video is $10,983. The range is enormous: some brands paid as little as $600, and the highest figure reported was $250,000 (HubSpot). The same article breaks out a few line items: hiring creatives from about $300 to $2,000 or more, and music and sound effects from about $250 to $2,000 or more.
Those numbers are for one video. A campaign that needs several lengths, or a new video for each feature, multiplies them.
The four ways to get a product video
| Option | Typical cost | Typical time | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Agency or studio | Thousands to tens of thousands | Weeks | Brand films, live action, a flagship launch |
| Freelance motion designer | Hundreds to a few thousand | Days to weeks | A custom piece on a smaller budget |
| Do it yourself in an editor | Software plus your time | Hours to days | Teams with design and editing skills |
| AI from your website (Teasr) | €39 to €99 | About 10 minutes | Launches, features, social posts, often |
Is it worth paying for at all?
Most marketers think so. In Wyzowl's 2026 survey, 91% of businesses use video as a marketing tool, and when asked how they'd most like to learn about a product or service, 63% of people chose a short video, far ahead of a text article (12%), an infographic (7%) or a sales call or demo (5%) (Wyzowl).
So the question usually isn't whether to have a video, but how many you can afford to make. At agency prices, most teams get one for the big launch and nothing for the releases that follow.
How to decide
- One flagship film with live action, actors or a bespoke story: hire an agency, and budget for it.
- A custom animated piece on a tighter budget: a good freelancer.
- A video for every launch, feature and campaign: generate it. Teasr makes a motion video from your website in your brand, with music, from €39, and you can ask for changes in plain words.
